Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Bhutan on November 11-12, 2025, yielded significant outcomes focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in energy, health, technology, and development partnerships.

Inauguration of the Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project: PM Modi and the King of Bhutan jointly inaugurated the 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project.

  • Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs): Several MoUs were signed to enhance cooperation in key sectors, including renewable energy, health (covering areas like drugs, diagnostics, and digital health), and mental health research and capacity building.

  • Cultural and Spiritual Exchanges: PM Modi participated in the celebrations marking the 70th birth anniversary of the Fourth King of Bhutan and the Global Peace Prayer Festival in Thimphu.
  • High-level Meetings: PM Modi held extensive discussions with the King of Bhutan, the Fourth King, and the Prime Minister of Bhutan on bilateral relations and regional issues.
