Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Bhutan on November 11-12, 2025, yielded significant outcomes focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in energy, health, technology, and development partnerships.

Inauguration of the Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project: PM Modi and the King of Bhutan jointly inaugurated the 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project.

- Financial Commitment: India committed a support package of ₹10,000 crore for Bhutan’s 13th Five Year Plan (2024-2029), including project-tied assistance and budgetary support.
- Credit Line for Energy Projects: India announced a new concessional credit line of ₹4,000 crore to fund energy projects in Bhutan.
- Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs): Several MoUs were signed to enhance cooperation in key sectors, including renewable energy, health (covering areas like drugs, diagnostics, and digital health), and mental health research and capacity building.
- Connectivity and Infrastructure: The leaders discussed cooperation in connectivity, technology, defense, and security, with PM Modi assuring the timely completion of planned bilateral rail projects.
- Cultural and Spiritual Exchanges: PM Modi participated in the celebrations marking the 70th birth anniversary of the Fourth King of Bhutan and the Global Peace Prayer Festival in Thimphu.
- High-level Meetings: PM Modi held extensive discussions with the King of Bhutan, the Fourth King, and the Prime Minister of Bhutan on bilateral relations and regional issues.
