BIMSTEC INDIA MARINE RESEARCH NETWORK
Context
- The first Biennial Conference of the BIMSTEC–India Marine Research Network (BIMReN) was held in Kochi, Kerala, from November 4–6, 2025.
- It marked a major step in India’s regional cooperation in marine research, sustainable fisheries, and blue economy development across the Bay of Bengal region.
- The event brought together scientists, policymakers, and research institutions from all seven BIMSTEC member countries, strengthening India’s leadership in marine diplomacy and ocean governance.

- Full Form: Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation

- Nature: A regional organisation linking countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia around the Bay of Bengal, focusing on economic, technical, and strategic cooperation.
