On a bright sunny morning, when there is no work to do, the small intestine just being relaxed putting its one leg up on the other wearing a sunglass “The Thug Life”….makes a comment “ Hey you, short fat Large Intestine, why are you taking so much space in the body…having no work… only to have a relation with Rectum ??” This makes the Large Intestine depressed. It can just think about its unimportance in the course of life. It says “Am I just a bag to keep the wastes?” It makes Largy so depressed that it can hardly function in a proper way. And the consequences are a frequent visit to the toilet and dehydration.
Here comes the Brainy with a motivating speech to tell him what will happen if Largy were not present in the body and to make the Largy realize its actual power. With a gentle smile on its face, the Brainy told Largy, “We, the organs, are associated with different work in the body. Nobody’s work is less important or nobody is present here just to maintain a relationship. You, Largy, don’t listen to the small one’s kibosh words. There are four important reasons for your being here.” The Largy says, “ Is that true? “ with a golden smile on its face. The Brainy with an affirmative nod starts telling the Largy if there were no Large Intestine what will happen..
The Brainy says,” You are the organ to absorb the last 20% water after the digestion takes place in the small intestine and to absorb Sodium and Chloride ions. If you are not present in the body, it will suffer from dehydration and lack of nutrients would make it weak.” It makes the Largy feel good and it started reabsorbing water and nutrients.
According to Brainy, the next important work of Largy is to store the waste product temporarily. If Largy were not there, the digestion process would become so accelerated that within every couple of hours a visit to the toilet would become unavoidable. The tag line of life could be like this…… “Do Less work, Go to the Toilet More.”

Lastly Brainy says to Largy that Largy contains more than 500 different anaerobic bacterial species in it. They are living in a symbiotic relationship with the body. If Largy were not present, the bacterial species would also become homeless. They would not be able to produce any Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs), Gases, etc. They would not take part in fermentation. Not only the production of these components or substances is important for our body, but the bacterias are also responsible for the good mood and wellbeing of the body.
This motivational speech of Brainy leaves a great impact on Largy’s mind and makes it understand its self-worth. It felt that it also has some important job to do in a body. Largy’s mood comes back on track and the consequences which were created in the body due to the dull mood of Largy, they also disappear.
